CAPT. KRIS SCHMID
Harbormaster
Kris’ family has owned and operated a full-service marina in Michigan since 1962 and therefore Kris “grew up” working in a marina. In his years of experience, he has held many marine mechanical certifications and has hands-on experience with marine construction. Kris has maintained a 100-ton USCG Captain’s License since 1988. Kris had previous careers in real estate, project management and marina services and his diverse professional experience provides a wealth of knowledge both in yachting and
business. Kris enjoys world travel, boating, scuba diving and all outdoor sports with his three children and wife, Amy. |

AMY SCHMID
Office Manager
Amy is a Florida native who has been around the water her entire life. Amy’s marina experience started when she was the director of marketing at The Marina at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. As part of the initial Ortega team, Amy has been at Ortega Landing since Fall 2004. Amy has several years of management experience and also holds a Master’s Degree in Management. Amy assists with marketing, sales and the daily management of the Marina at Ortega Landing. Amy enjoys scuba diving and boating
with her family. |

STEPHANIE MCCANN
Senior Dockhand
Stephanie is a Jacksonville native that has enjoyed boating on the St. Johns River since she was a kid. Stephanie handles numerous duties from dock management, assisting with lines, slip side pump out and ensuring that the marina is in “tip-top” shape. In addition to her duties as a dockhand, she is currently attending the Florida Community College at Jacksonville. Stephanie was here at the original marina facility and worked at Ortega Landing through demolition, numerous moves and construction of the new marina. Because Stephanie has done it all here, she has no problem managing crew members with the philosophy of “never ask somebody to do something you would not do yourself.” |
